About

Hi there and welcome to MoneyOK – an european blog about personal finance, travel & lifestyle.

Who am I?

The author of this blog is me – a 26 year old Croatian living in the biggest city in Croatia. Working as a digital marketing manager during the day, learning & blogging about personal finance during the night. I invest regularly and as much as I can.

Aside from this blog, I have a full-time job and I work on the side with clients who I help with digital advertising.

When I’m not working on those two things, I will write content for this blog.

Why am I Starting a Blog?

After about a year of meticulous tracking of my expenses (and finances in general), in September 2020 I decided I want to start a blog. A blog will serve as a type of journal where I can keep track of all my ideas, investments, finances etc.

What can you expect to see on this blog?

At the end of every month I’ll take a look at said month and do an analysis how the month went. It will show all my assets and liabilities, income and expense reports, net worth updates etc.

In addition to these posts, I’ll write about financial stuff I care about – P2P investments, real estate, crypto, startups and general business ideas.

While I do enjoy covering the topic of personal finance, I also enjoy travelling and technology, so you can expect blog posts about that too.

Some of the topics I will be covering:

  • Financial Independence
    • My goal is not money, it’s freedom.
    • My goal is to become financially independent – meaning to have multiple sources of income, and not needing to work a 9-5 job. I want to be able to work on my own projects and businesses, without being confined to an office from 9 to 5, working for someone else.
    • The path to that is: earning more, spending less, investing the difference. As well as starting several side businesses, that will bring in passive income.
  • Investing
    • Investing for me is buying assets that will either appreciate in value or bring in recurring income.
    • That will be done through investing in ETFs, individual stocks, bonds, P2P, real estate & startups.
  • Personal finance
    • This topic will be all about managing your money, making better financial decisions, earning more and spending less money, planning for the future etc.
  • Lifestyle
    • Its important to enjoy life while you can, so in this section I will cover my experience with having a better life – personal improvement, productivity, fun hobbies etc.
  • Travel
    • As I started this blog in the middle of the “lockdown” following the COVID pandemic, there isn’t much travelling being done right now. However, I plan to travel as soon as the situation improves, so you can expect a lot of coverage about places I travel to, advice for travelling, best financial services while travelling etc.
  • Tech
    • I really enjoy learning about new consumer technology, using technology to advance & simplify my life
    • Laptops, phones, headphones, SAAS, softwares, AI – some of the future topics within the Tech section 🙂

Transparency

I plan to write about my experience with investments as objectively as possible. I will be fully transparent with my investments. Every amount of money or value moved will be shown. The value shown will always be the full amount, not accounting for fees or other transaction costs.

Right now, I do not have a lot of disposable income so my investment options are somewhat limited, but there are some good opportunities that I will, hopefully, take advantage of.

My financial goals (as of Sep 2020)

  • Smaller emergency fund – 2k EUR ✅
  • 6 months expenses emergency fund – 5k EUR ❌
  • Investments bringing in 100 EUR in one month ❌
  • 50% savings rate ❌
  • Passive income – 1k EUR per month
  • Mortgage loan paid off
  • Net worth of 100.000 EUR

Advice

Everything I write on this blog is either my opinion or personal experience.

I cannot and will not be responsible for any actions you take based on what you have read on this blog. This is not financial advice. Should you need help with your finances you should talk to an actual financial adviser. Investing can be rewarding but it’s not without risk. You can lose (a part of) your deposit.

Affiliate links

I am not associated with any of the investment platforms or financial services mentioned on the blog. All the reviews and thoughts are objective and my personal opinion or experience.

However, affiliate links will appear on this blog. By using them you usually get a bonus with a certain product/service with no extra costs, while helping me out a little. You get something extra compared to what you would usually get, and I get a small commission which helps run the blog. I think it’s a win-win situation.
